I'm afraid of heights. Will
ballooning bother me?
Probably not. There is no physical connection between the earth and
the balloon as there is in a tall building. This complete freedom seems
to alleviate the apprehension of most passengers.
What should I wear?
To get the most enjoyment from your flight, wear comfortable, casual
clothes. Women should wear slacks and low-heeled shoes. Although it is
not noticeably cooler when flying, you may want to bring along a sweater
for cool mornings.
How fast do you go in a balloon?
The speed of the balloon is the same speed as the wind that is moving
us along. We will only fly when winds are ten miles an hour or less. The
balloon ride usually lasts 60-75 minutes.
Is there a feeling of motion in the balloon?
No. Because the balloon moves the same speed as the wind, there is no
feeling of movement. The feeling is that a balloon is standing still
while the landscape moves smoothly beneath you. "Tranquil" and
"calm" are the words used most often by our passengers to
describe ballooning.
Where does the balloon land?
Our landing sites vary according to the wind speed and direction. The
ground crew, in constant radio contact, meets us and packs up the
balloon. We then return to the Boar's Head Inn for our champagne
celebration.
How early do I need to make reservations?
We can usually accommodate your "Next Day" flight needs,
but we recommend that reservations are made two to three weeks in
advance, especially for weekends. Gift certificates are unique ideas for
anniversaries, birthdays and holiday occasions. They are available by
phone.
Is there a weight
limit?
Yes. Any individual over
250 pounds should contact Bear Balloons for specific details.
Are there age
restrictions?
Children must be 5 and over, and
accompanied by an adult.
